New client AML Requirements

As of October 1, 2018, accountants in New Zealand are required to comply with the AML/CFT (Anti-Money Laundering/Counter-Terrorism Financing) Act.

This is a legal obligation we must adhere to. To meet these requirements, we need to carry out customer due diligence for all new clients. This means we’ll ask you to provide photo identification and proof of your residential address.

If you’re coming in for a meeting, you can speed up the process by bringing these documents with you. We recommend having your passport or driver’s license and a recent utility bill or bank statement as proof of address.

We understand that meeting face-to-face might not always be possible. In such cases, we can accept certified copies of your identification. These should be certified by a person authorised to take a statutory declaration, such as a Justice of the Peace, Solicitor, Notary Public, Judge, or Deputy Registrar.

Depending on the type of entities involved (e.g., Companies or Trusts), additional due diligence will be required. We’ll work with you to make this as straightforward as possible.
